LICENCE REQUIREMENTS
You must have a provisional licence for the class of vehicle you wish to be tested on to train at the school if you go on the public road. For lessons within our test track no licence is required. We will, if you wish, obtain the provisional licence for you and also arrange a test appointment.
To obtain a provisional licence you must first pass a theory test. Cork Driving School offer a six hour training course for the theory test on the first Tuesday and Thursday evenings of each month. We will then arrange for you to take the Examination. The Government Test Fee is 34 Euro. To Test for Class C or D you must have a valid Class B Irish or other EU licence.
To obtain a provisional licence you need:
1. Theory Test Pass Certificate.
2. Two photographs signed on the rear.
3. Application Form duly signed.
4. Eye Test or Medical Certificate.
5. Passport or Berth Certificate (Long Form).
6. 30 Euro.
The following are the different classes of licence available:
B Cars & Vehicles weighing less than 3,500 Kg.
C Rigid truck over 7500 Kg.
C1 Small Truck with design gross vehicle weight over 2500 Kg and under7500 kg.
D Bus for more than 8 passengers.
D1 Minibus with 16 seats or less.
EB Car with Trailer.
EC Articulated Truck.
EC1 Small Truck with Trailer.
ED Large Bus with Trailer.
ED1 MiniBus with Trailer.
W Work Vehicles and Land Tractors.
Medical Report
An eyesight report is needed for Class B or EB and a full medical certificate dated within a month prior to the application is needed for all other classes
Driving Test Application
It can take up to four months to obtain a driving test appointment but we may be able to help speed it up. Fee is 60 Euro for Class B and 100 Euro for all other classes.
Vehicle For Test
You may use your own vehicle or we will provide one.
