Welcome to Cork Driving School
Cork Driving School is Cork’s Premier Driver Training School offering training in driving every type of vehicle. It specialises in single deck and double deck buses with the choice of manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic. It also offers tuition on cars, vans, rigid trucks, artic trucks and tractors. Tuition can also be provided on diggers, excavators, forklifts, dumpers and other plant and machinery on request.
Our experienced Instructors will prepare you for the test and we can also provide you with a vehicle for the test. It is recommended that you do an hours lesson immediately before the test.
Our own two mile private test track at our depot in Glanmire, currently being extended to five miles, enables us to give the initial lessons safely and securely, thereby giving you confidence for subsequent lessons on the public road. This is very important for beginners as it enables difficult manoeuvres such as reversing, parking, three point turns, hill starts, etc. to be undertaken safely and with no risk. No other driving school offers this.
If a new driver, it is recommended that you have three to five lessons first on our own test track to gain experience and confidence. The remainder should be on public roads. Our lessons on the public road cover the test course.
Lessons are available almost anywhere in the City or from the Driving Test Centre on Sarsfield's Road. We can also bring the vehicle to you. In general one should plan on ten lessons before attempting the test. In the unlikely event of failing the test, repeat lessons will be at a 50% discount.
Normal rates apply up to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and there is a slight surcharge outside these hours and on Saturdays and Sundays.
Most insurance companies will give a discount on your insurance if you have a certificate that you have taken six lessons. We will provide the lessons and it will save you considerable sums on your insurance.
